Mrs. Gladys Morris Bennett, age 92, of Covington, died Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem. She was the wife of the late Olen Emerson Bennett.
Mrs. Bennett was born May 6, 1925 in Greenbrier County, WV, the daughter of the late Malcom Arguile Morris and Myrtle Rose Morris. She was employed as a registered nurse by the former C&O Hospital. She was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church where she served her church as an Elder, Clerk of the Session and was a lifetime member of the Women of the Church.
Mrs. Bennett is survived by three sons, Mark Emerson Bennett and wife, Nancy of Powhatan, Greg Malcom Bennett and wife, Barbara of Flat Rock, NC and Kevin Morris Bennett and wife, Rhonda of Benson, NC; two daughters, Rev. Donna B. Coffman and husband, Terry of Fuquay-Varina, NC and Camilla B. Cabaniss and husband, Johnsey of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Shawn Coffman, Heather Daniels, Lee Cabaniss, Michelle Pope, Kristen Bennett, Briton Bennett and Zoe Bennett; nine great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 1, 2017, at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in Hokes Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
