Brenda Lawhorn Woods, age 68, of Hot Springs died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at LewisGale Medical Center in Salem. She was the wife of Lewie Jennings Woods.
Mrs. Woods was born May 14, 1948 in Covington, a daughter of the late Ernest McClintic and Lucille Lawhorn McClintic. She worked as a waitress at Uncle Tom’s Cabin, The Homestead, the ABC Stores in Hot Springs and Covington, and more recently in the Quality Assurance department of Bacova Guild. Mrs. Woods was a great wife and an excellent cook whom enjoyed gardening, flowers, and shopping. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Woods is survived by two sons, Dale Pauley and wife, Missy, of Hot Springs, and Jimmy Woods and wife, Susan, of Abingdon; one daughter, Melanie Monroe and husband, Bryan, of Salem; seven grandchildren, Rebekkah Pauley, Kristen Pauley, Jeremiah Pauley and wife, Hannah, Jennings Woods, Ella Woods, Aidan Woods, and Trace Monroe; three great grandchildren, Paisley Pauley, Kesslyn Barricks, and Lennox Beverly; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; one sister, Dreama Halterman, of Strasburg.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 P.M. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Eden United Methodist Church, 3740 Switzerland Trail, Hot Springs, VA 24445.
