Obituary for Ida Sartain Scott

Mrs. Ida Leia Sartain Scott, age 82, of Covington, died Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Brian Center Nursing Care and Rehabilitation, Low Moor. She was the wife of the late Darrell Newman Scott.
Mrs. Scott was born February 20, 1934 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Dallas Houston Sartain and Mary O’Connor Sartain. A lifetime resident of this community, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Scott was a member of Hoke’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Ida collected chicken and rooster memorabilia which people helped collect for her in their travels.
Mrs. Scott is survived by a son, Darrell Newman “Bud” Scott, Jr. and wife, Estelle of Covington; two daughters, Elizabeth Jean Scott Smith and husband, William of Covington and Carolyn Scott Bazzrea and husband, Lindy of Covington; nine grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; two brothers, Bertie Sartain and wife, Linda and William Sartain and wife, Linda; and four sisters, Norma Sartain Benedict and husband, Gary of Rochester, NY, Mary Sartain Webb of Covington, Elizabeth Sartain Mines of Covington and Beverly Sartain Basham and husband, Andrew of Sumter, SC.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Frances Sartain.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 5, 2017, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Burns officiating. Interment will follow in Hoke Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Keith Brown, Daniel Brown, Scotty Scott, Steven Scott, Brian Smith, Johnny Quinlin, Robert Critzer and Dennis Benedict.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Brian Center Patient Activity Fund, P.O. Box 200, Low Moor, VA 24457.
