Mrs. Joyce Gibson Rowan, of Hot Springs, died Thursday, January 28, 2016, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Edward Andrew “Andy” Rowan.
Mrs. Rowan was born August 12, 1929 in Covington, the daughter of the late John Lewis Gibson and Bessie Landis Gibson. During her working career, she was employed as an administrative assistant in the Engineering department of Westvaco. Joyce was a member of First Christian Church.
Mrs. Rowan is survived by two sons, Andrew Steven Rowan of Hot Springs and William Carleton Rowan of Covington; two grandchildren, Brandon Dwight Rowan and Heather Lynn Rowan Riley; two great grandchildren, Aiden Bryan Riley and Silas Pierce Riley; a brother, John L. Gibson of Richmond; a sister, Brenda Sue Ledford of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, John Lewis and Bessie Landis Gibson, and husband, Edward Andrew “Andy” Rowan, Mrs. Rowan was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Evanston Rowan and a sister, Elsie Gibson Brown.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Alleghany Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.
