Mrs. Nancy Carol Smith Paxton, age 78, of Staunton, VA died Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Brian Center Nursing Care-Alleghany, Low Moor. She was the wife of the late Norbourne Elvin “Shorty” Paxton, who preceded her in death on August, 9, 2013.
Mrs. Paxton was born January 21, 1937, in Bath County, VA, the daughter of the late Oswald Thomas Smith and Jessie Kay Smith Pendleton. Nancy graduated from Covington High School. She enjoyed bowling, fishing and vacationing, especially in Atlantic City. Mrs. Paxton was of the Presbyterian faith.
She is survived by a sister-in-law Christine P. Kimberlin; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins including a special nephew, Lee Rogers and wife, Virginia; nieces Janet Paxton Parini and Marian “Cricket” Paxton; and a special friend Ruth Swann and husband, Ron Swann.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 26, 2015 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Martin officiating, assisted by Rev. Donald Martin. Interment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Walter Lee Rogers, Sr., Dean Rogers, Troy Humphries, Gary Kimberlin, Adam Morris and Scott Beane.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, June 25, 2015 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M at Loving Funeral Home.
