Mrs. Pattie Smith Thompson, age 92, of Fairmont, WV, formerly of Covington, died Friday, October 10, 2014, at the Tygart Center, Fairmont, WV. She was the wife of the late Arthur W. Thompson.
Mrs. Thompson was born March 6, 1922 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Albert Munsie Smith and Minnie Alice Rucker Smith. She was employed as a machine operator by the former Industrial Rayon before her retirement. Mrs. Thompson was a member of First Christian Church.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by a son, Alan Wayne Thompson; a daughter, Barbara T. Plaugher of Fairview, WV; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Carmen Smith; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by three sisters, Agnes Bell, Nellie Persinger and Evelyn Warwick and three brothers, Clark Smith, Bud Smith and Arnold M. Smith.
A funeral service was conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 14, 2014, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until service time at Loving Funeral Home.
