Obituary for Mattie Virginia Chestnut (Ailstock)

Mattie Virginia Chestnut (Maw-Maw), 69, passed away peacefully, January 15, 2023 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Rose Ailstock; sister, Donna Sue Ailstock; brother, Thomas Wayne Ailstock; sister-in-law, Diane Ailstock; brother-in-law, Lewis Allen and two fur babies, Huckleberry and Little Bear.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Rodney Darrell Chestnut, her four children, Donna Hepler and husband, Mark, Wilma Stogdale and husband, George, Larry Mace and wife, Michelle, Nancy Crummett and husband, Roy; four stepchildren, Teresa McClellan, Shelton Burns, Rachel Wust and Roy Burns; siblings, Henry Ailstock and special friend, Vicki Pursley, Bart Ailstock and wife, Sue, Susie Strickler and husband, Rod, Linda Chestnut and husband, Mo and Marcie Allen; her grandchildren, Kyle Robertson, Cheyenne Keyes, Haley Lee, Hannah Lee, Monroe Lee, Jenna Newmarker, Walter Mines, Asher Hepler, Katelynn Mace, Allison Mace and Pathen Mace; and 16 great grandbabies.
She was retired from the Homestead and later was a caregiver. She was a loving wife to her husband, a devoted mother and an amazing maw-maw to all her grandbabies. She loved to read, cook and garden. She was known for her hospitality, kindness, willingness to help others and above all her grace, strength and courage.
In keeping with her wishes, a Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at Life Line Ministries Church, 136 Fairview Lane Hot Springs. Following the service a meal will be provided for the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hot Springs Rescue Squad.
