Obituary for Evelyn Joan Vess
Miss. Evelyn Joan Vess, age 88, of Covington, died Monday, January 2, 2023 at her residence.
Miss. Vess was born October 18, 1934 in Covington, the daughter of the late Jessie Wilson and Alberta Karnes Vess. She was employed as a telephone operator by the former Clifton Forge-Waynesboro Telephone Company for thirty years. Evelyn also worked as an operator for the Greenbrier Resort for a number of years.
Miss. Vess is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Fultz of Front Royal; a special friend, Lois Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Miss. Vess was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse W. Vess, Jr. and Gene E. Vess and two sisters, Kathleen Keaton and Margaret S. Martin.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 9, 2023, at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.
Those wishing to attend the service should assemble at Loving Funeral Home on Monday afternoon by 12:30 P.M.
