Obituary for Shirley McClintic Robey (Bartley)

Mrs. Shirley Bartley McClintic Robey, age 98, of Covington, died Friday, November 11, 2022 at Bath County Hospital, Hot Springs. She was the wife of the late Edward John “Skip” Robey.
Mrs. Robey was born September 20, 1924 in Covington, the daughter of the late Clarence Schley Bartley and Irene Peery Bartley. A graduate of Covington High School, she went on to become a registered nurse. During her working career, she was employed as a nurse in the operating room of Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia before moving to New Jersey to work at CBS Records, retiring after thirty-five years of service. In 1981, Mrs. Robey returned to this area and was employed as a nurse by the Jackson River Internists. Shirley was a member of Mr. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Robey is survived by children, Ernest Jack McClintic of Starksboro, VT, Theresa McClintic Antonini of Covington, Mark McClintic and wife, Patricia of Glassboro, NJ, Donna Hartman and husband, Bob of Elm, NJ, Debbie Robey Diamiano and husband, Dave of Elm, NJ, Edward J. Robey, II and wife, Carol of Sicklerville, NJ, P. David Robey and wife, Karen of Cedarbrook, NJ, Thomas Robey and wife, Coleen of Williamstown, NJ; grandchildren, Ki Antonini and Bert Schackerman, Jason Antonini and Kerri, Mark McClintic, Shanna Gardner and husband, Ian, Casey Spence and Scott Odor, Michelle Byrne and husband, Joe, Lorraine McClintic, John McClintic, Dana Campione, Michael McClintic and wife, Colleen, Eric Mingori, Melissa McClintic, Casey McClintic and Rachel; great grandchildren, Casey Southerland, Elijah Antonini and Dee, Joshua Byrne and wife, Lisa, Kyle Byrne and wife, Melody, Ashley Byrne, Joshua McClintic, Joshua Antonini, Cody Antonini and Kayla; Collin McClintic, Jayden McClintic, Ezmae McClintic, Victoria Spence, Conner Spence, Greyson Gardner, Alexa McClintic; great-great grandchildren, Saniya Southerland, R.J. Southerland, Kyla McClintic, Oscar Byrne, Greylyn Repine and Tilly Byrne, Violet Antonini; a sister-in-law, Rosalee Bartley; a number of nieces and nephews; all members of the Robey family; and a number of special friends she “adopted” into her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Robey was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil Bartley, Marion Bartley and Gene Bartley, two sisters, Eloise Bartley Seay and Dorothy Bartley Cordell; and two sisters-in-law, Juanita Bartley and Dorothy Bartley
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 18, 2022, from the Chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin “Buddy” Burks officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, November 17, 2022, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
The family would like those attending the service to enjoy a luncheon at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church following the service on Friday.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 107 Mt. Pleasant Drive, Covington VA 24426.
