Obituary for Walter Nesbit "Bill" Lockhart

Mr. Walter Nesbit "Bill" Lockhart, age 84, of Covington, died Thursday, November 10, 2022 at the Brian Center Nursing Rehab, Low Moor. He was the husband of Bonnie Cody Lockhart.
Mr. Lockhart was born October 30, 1938 in Covington, the son of the late Hollie Marece Lockhart and Evelyn Tingler Lockhart. A lifetime resident of this community, he was employed as a research and development technician by the former Hercules. Mr. Lockhart was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. A lay speaker, he loved the Lord and enjoyed singing especially hymns. In his spare time, Mr. Lockhart enjoyed being outdoors. Most of all, Bill enjoyed spending time with his wife, Bonnie, the love of his life.
In addition to his wife, Bonnie, Mr. Lockhart is survived by his grandchildren, James Lockhart, Seth Lockhart, Bradley Hugus; daughter-in-law, Carrolynn Miller and husband, Harmon Miller; grandchildren, Emily Coric, Hannah Miller, Rachel Miller, Adam Miller, Eliana Miller and Evina Coric; great grandchildren, Whitley Lockhart and Wyatt Lockhart; niece, Sydney Davis and husband, Drew Davis; and extended family, the Rooklin and Warwick families, Maggie, Kent and Hillard.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lockhart was preceded in death by a son, Mark Wayne Lockhart; a daughter, Deborah Carol Lockhart; and two sisters, Dorothy Hawthorne and Norma Caldwell.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Sonny Wiseman officiating, assisted by Rev. Virgil Woodie and Rev. David Brown. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be James Lockhart, Seth Lockhart, Mike Smith, Josh Miller, Steve Craft, Adam Miller, Bradley Hugus and Thomas Whitmore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elwood Cadd, Roger Wiseman, Brian Turley, David Buckman and Harmon Miller.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 12 noon until time of service at the First Church of the Nazarene.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of donations to the First Church of the Nazarene, c/o Donna Wiseman, 336 E. Parrish Street, Covington, VA 24426.
