Obituary for David Jeffrey Young (Dave)

David Jeffrey Young, 77, of Saline, MI passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022.
Dave was born August 31, 1945, in Covington, Virginia to Homer and Hela (Anderson) Young. On May 15, 1993 he married Margaret K. Egeler who survives.
Self taught as a programmer/analyst, Dave retired from Fingerle Lumber in Ann Arbor, MI after many years. He had previously worked in Chicago for The Great Books Foundation. The cities of Chicago, Seattle, Cleveland, Covington, Roanoke, Clifton Forge, and Richmond, Virginia had the good fortune of hearing Dave’s pleasant voice on the radio where he worked as a disc jockey under the air names, ‘Dave Diamond’ and ‘Rick Shaw’. Dave started his long career in radio at WPXI and WROV in Roanoke and worked at the former WKEY and WCFV in Covington where he was especially proud of the time he spent there honing his craft. Due to his incredible talent, wonderful baritone voice and experience, Mr. Young was chosen to broadcast live at the opening of the Seattle Space Needle. He was a true tech geek who enjoyed helping others with their computer troubles. After many years living the big city life in Chicago, Dave came to love the quiet and slower pace of country life. Dave was a kind and generous soul who loved music, a sharp wit and good food.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Christopher and his brother, Stephen.
In addition to his wife, Margaret, he is survived by many loved ones including brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dave was cherished by his family and will be sorely missed. He will live on in our hearts and memories.

Cremation has taken place.
