Obituary for Roy Lee Sheppard Sr.
Mr. Roy Lee Sheppard, Sr., age 81, of Covington, died Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Carol Althea Williams Sheppard.
Mr. Sheppard was born March 18, 1941 in Buena Vista, the son of the late Oscar Thomas Sheppard, Sr. and Nellie Mae Eggleston Sheppard.
Mr. Sheppard is survived by three sons, Roy Lee Sheppard, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Covington, Todd Sheppard of Covington and Robbie Sheppard of Florida; a daughter, Jennifer Sheppard and fiancé, Roger Potter of Millboro; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Sheppard Smith Toombs of Bath County; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Sheppard was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Sheppard, Charles Sheppard and Oscar Thomas "O.T." Sheppard, Jr.; and three sisters, Shirley Sheppard Lovell, Lucille Rhodenizer and Mary Frances Sheppard.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 26, 2022 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Edith Snedegar officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 12:30 P.M. until time of service and at other times, at the residence of Roy and Cindy Sheppard, 603 E. Dolly Ann Drive, Covington.
