Obituary for Patricia Mae Whitmer (Snead)
Mrs. Patricia Mae Snead Whitmer, age 86, of Covington, died Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor. She was the wife of Larry Allen Whitmer.
Mrs. Whitmer was born February 8, 1936 in Covington, the daughter of the late Charles and Blanche Jordan Snead. She was a graduate of Covington High School. Patricia was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care and spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Whitmer was also a wonderful “Nanny” for a number of children whom she took care of over the years. She was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband, Larry, Mrs. Whitmer is survived by three sons, Charles “Woody” Whitmer and wife, Kim of Yorktown, Gary Whitmer of Covington and Alan Whitmer of Covington; two daughters, Robbie Horn and husband, Jeff of Covington and Jackie Baker and husband, Jeff of Covington; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Snead and wife, Patsy of Covington; three sisters, Mickey Rhodenizer and husband, Bo of Roanoke, Nancy Church of Ronceverte, WV and Betty Fitzgerald of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 30. 2022, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Moss officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Neil Horn, Brandon Rowan, Ralph Church, Rodger Church, Brad Hise and Dwayne Hinebaugh.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 11:30 A.M. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church Youth Program, 900 N. Alleghany Avenue, Covington, VA 24426.
