Obituary for Larry Edwin Snead

Larry Edwin Snead, 81, a life-long resident of Covington went to be with his Lord on August 10, 2022.
He was born on August 1, 1941 in Covington, the son of the late Harry Raymond Snead and Irene Austin Snead.
Larry was an employee of WESTVACO for 43 years and was a previous owner of Whitey’s One Stop Market. He graduated from Covington High School, class of 1958. He was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church. He was a member of the Covington Fire Department retiring after 34 years, a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 610, a life time member of the NRA and an avid UVA fan. Larry was known as a kind, loyal, friendly & generous person and a devoted, loving husband, father & grandfather. He loved hunting, cruising with friends on his Gold Wing trike and spending time with family & friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond & Irene Snead and his sons, Michael (Mike) & Richard Brian.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Carolyn Lydiatt Snead; sons Jeffrey (Jamie) of Midland, MI and Craig of Salem, VA; grandsons Jeffrey & James Brian Snead of Midland, MI; sister Marjorie (Bob) Sontag of Brooksville, Fl and his faithful companion Jubilee.
Service will be at Temple Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 16th at 2:00 PM conducted by the Rev. William. M. Hartsfield. Visitation at 1:00 PM. Covid precautions would be appreciated. Interment will be at a later date.
Pallbearers will be Dick Snead, Jeffrey Snead, Bob Sontag, Bucky Mottern, Gene Lee, Bert Caul and John Stone.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeb Snead, Jeffrey Snead II, Roscoe Humphries, Johnny Nida and Tommy Smith.
