Obituary for Claude Burdette Tucker
Mr. Claude Burdette Tucker, age 87, of Covington, died Monday, August 8, 2022 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Goldie Bogar Tucker.
Mr. Tucker was born January 28, 1935 in Alleghany County, the son of the late Calvin and Mamie Tucker. A lifetime resident of this community, he served his country as a member of the United States Army. Claude was employed as a crew foreman by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for a number of years before his retirement. Mr. Tucker was a member of Highland Chapel Church. In his spare time, Claude enjoyed gardening, reading books, rabbit hunting and raising beagles.
Mr. Tucker is survived by two sons, Chris Dean Tucker and wife, Missy and Terry Todd Tucker; three grandchildren, Wyatt Tucker, Zachery Tucker and Morgan Myers; a number of nieces and nephews; and his caretakers, Kaye and Don.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by one brother, Ransom Tucker and two sisters, Pearl Salyers and Frances Caldwell.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00P.M. Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Lone Star Cemetery with Rev. Donald Earwood officiating.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Road, Covington, VA 24426.
