Obituary for Mary Hardy O'Neil
Mrs. Mary Hardy O’Neil, age 96, of Covington, died Friday, April 15, 2022, at her residence. She was the wife of the late William F. O’Neil who preceded her in death in 1992.
Mrs. O’ Neil was born November 26, 1925 in Covington, the daughter of the late John Harvey Hardy and Norma Gertrude Golden Hardy. She was a graduate of Covington High School and Dunsmore Business College. Upon returning to this area in 1972, Mary worked as a secretary at the former Alleghany Adjustment Company, a business she owned and operated along with her husband. Mrs. O’Neil was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mary was also a member of the Covington Women’s Club as well as the Ladies Bridge Club.
Mrs. O’Neil is survived by two daughters, Mary Beth Moody and Meg O’Neil Crawford and husband, Jeff, both of Covington; four grandchildren, Jennifer Smith Mundy and husband, Chris, Katie O’Neil Smith, Lucas Crawford and Garrett Crawford; one great grandchild, Jayden Mundy; and special friend and caregiver, Charati Sizemore.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. O’Neil was preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Hardy O’Neil in 1972; five brothers, Jack Elbert Hardy, John H, Hardy, Jr., Lester Hardy, Odell Hardy and Charles J. Hardy; and a sister, Lela Hardy Robinson.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Tom Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Luke Crawford, Garrett Crawford, Jeff Crawford, Chris Mundy, Jayden Mundy, and Tony Scialoia. Honorary alternate pallbearer will be Donnie Lipes.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home. A Rosary Service will be held at 6:00 P.M.
