Obituary for Wanda Craft (Carr)

Wanda Carr Craft, 74, of Montgomery Knob Road, went to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, May 29, 2021. She was surrounded by family as she went peacefully into the presence of the Lord.
Wanda was born September 21, 1946 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Samuel Hinkle Carr and Bertha Snyder Carr. She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Larry Craft; one son and daughter-in-law, Burton and Tara Craft; three daughters and sons-in-law, Loree and Ernie Williams, Kerri and Billy Fridley, and Heather and Aaron Glenn; a brother and sister-in-law, Sammy and Lisa Carr; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Drema and Steve Bennett, Karen and Mike Carpenter, Ronda and Jed Carpenter, and Janie and Jimmy Fridley. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, Kristi Persinger and husband Jeremy, Brandon Williams, Allison Williams, Jacob Fridley and wife Kim, Simon Fridley and wife Abby, Aaron Craft, Meghan Craft, Isaac Craft, Noah Glenn, Gabriel Glenn, Carrlee Glenn, and Isabella Glenn, one great-grandson, Jace Persinger, and several nieces and nephews.
Wanda was the first Homecoming Queen of Alleghany County High School, from which she graduated in 1964. She treasured time spent with her family and enthusiastically supported her loved ones in all of their endeavors. She raised four children, but also served as a mother figure and role model to countless others throughout years of children’s ministry and a lifetime of caring for nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and many more. Her tireless service and unshakeable faith inspired all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time outdoors through daily walks, gardening, and feeding the birds around her home. A talented cook, she prepared countless meals to feed and comfort those that she loved. She was a member of Good News Church as well as First Christian Church and served as a living witness for her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
A celebration of life will be led by Pastor Steve Noel and Reverend Bill Gilliland at Good News Church on Tuesday, June 1st, at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
A private graveside memorial will be held at a later date. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Persinger, Brandon Williams, Jacob Fridley, Aaron Craft, Isaac Craft, Noah Glenn, Gabriel Glenn,Jace Persinger and Simon Fridley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to Good News Church at 214 S. Lexington Avenue, Covington, VA or First Christian Fellowship at 231 E. Fudge Street, Covington, VA.
