Obituary for Charles Napoleon "Chuck" Sexton Jr.

Mr. Charles Napoleon “Chuck” Sexton, Jr., age 89, of Covington, died Saturday, May 22, 2021, at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor.
Mr. Sexton was born August 3, 1931 in Low Moor, the son of the late Charles Napoleon Sexton, Sr. and Mamie Davis Gilliland Sexton. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean War where he was stationed as a sonar man third class aboard the USS Orleck. A resident of Malibu, CA for fifty-eight years, Chuck had been employed as a caretaker by the Topanga Ranch Motel before his retiring and moving to this area in 2011. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Covington.
Mr. Sexton is survived by a sister, Charlotte S. Ginn of Covington; five nieces, Charlotte Elswick, Carol Grimmer, Linda Kresl, Lisa Curtis and Marigail Money; five nephews, Robert Adams, Charles Adams, William Elliott, Gary Mann and Tommy Mann; and a number of great nieces and nephews; as well as his very close friends and adopted family, the Odedara’s, owners of Joyner’s Budget Inn, Covington.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sexton was preceded in death by a brother, Henry C. “Buddy “ Sexton and three sisters, Louise Adams, Margaret Mann and Eleanor S. Elliott.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Sue Ennis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Memorial Processing, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959.
