Obituary for Norman Gray Martin

Mr. Norman Gray Martin, age 73, of Covington, died Saturday, October 3, 2020, at Lewis Gale Hospital, Salem. He was the husband of Wanda L. Martin.
Mr. Martin was born September 20, 1947, the son of the late Walter Charles and Janet Morgan Martin. Mr. Martin served his country in the U.S. Army between 1966-1968 and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. During his working career, he was employed as an operator in the power department by Mead Westvaco and retired after 28 years. Norman was an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt fan. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, four wheeling and most importantly, spending time with his family.
Mr. Martin is survived by his loving wife of fifty one years, Wanda Lee Martin; his daughters, Heather M. Mann and special friend, David Rooklin and Kimberly M. Walker and husband, Jesse; grandchildren, Ashley Mann, Jack Mann, Nicholas Mann, Jaxon Walker and Lincoln Walker; sister, Rita Martin of Tennessee; brothers- in-law, Jackie Lee and Eric Lee; sisters-in- law, Catherine Rose and husband, Jimmy, Carol Martin and Geraldine Lee; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Martin, Eddie Martin, Sammy Martin, Jerry Martin, Johnny Martin and Freddie Martin; sisters, Sue Crawford, Edith Daniel and Vera Showalter; brothers-in- law, Bill Daniel, Louis Showalter and William “Billy” Lee; mother-in-law, Violet Lee; and father- in-law, Russell Lee.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 6, 2020, from the Chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Daniel officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jack Mann, Nicholas Mann, Billy Joe Martin, Roger Walker, Ozzie Hostetter and Curtis Ewing. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jaxon Walker
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to New Hope Baptist Church, 1403 S. Dee St. Covington, VA 24426.
