Mr. Donald Linwood Lewis, age 72, of Covington, died Sunday, January 5, 2020 at his residence.
Mr. Lewis was born July 20, 1947 in Clifton Forge, the son of the late Thomas Lewis and Virginia Leftwich Lewis. He was employed as a certified nursing assistant for twenty years by Liberty House Nursing Home. Donald Linwood Lewis, affectionately known as “Donnie” was a lifelong member of Main Street Baptist Church in Clifton Forge. He was a member of the senior choir and combined choir. He loved singing for his church and the Lord.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Susanne Thompson Lewis; sister, Juanita Garrison of Lexington; brother, Thomas Lewis of New York; brothers-in-law, John Thompson of Philadelphia, PA, Rudolph Essex of Warm Springs, VA, George Thompson of Clifton Forge, VA, and Matthew Thompson of Clifton Forge, VA; sisters-in-law, Ellen Essex of Warm Springs, VA and Ethel Thompson of Clifton Forge, VA; his very good friends, Carl and Erlean Withrow of Clifton Forge, VA and Jimmy Withrow of Covington, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lewis is preceded in death by a sister, Windsor Gilmore.
A memorial service will be held at Main Street Baptist Church on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 2:00 P.M with Preston Tyler officiating, assisted by area ministers. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
