Mrs. Patricia Whitmer Matheny, age 87, of Covington, died Sunday, June 16, 2019, at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor. She was the wife of the late Douglas Lafayet Matheny.
Mrs. Matheny was born September 24, 1931 in Covington, the daughter of the late Linwood Earl Whitmer and Ruby Elizabeth Rae Whitmer. She was a homemaker who worked hard taking care of her home and family. Patricia was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and was a former member of the choir.
Mrs. Matheny is survived by three sons, Douglas Matheny, Jr. of Warrenton, Curtis Hamm of Bowling Green, KY and Mark Matheny of Warrenton; a daughter, Deborah Leedle of Kansas City, KS; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Wayne Whitmer of Salem and Larry Allen Whitmer of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, June 24, 2019, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 11:30 A.M. until time of service at the church.
