Obituary for Steven Berkley "Skipper" Williams

Mr. Steven Berkley “Skipper” Williams, 67, of Covington, died Saturday, June 8, 2019, at The Woodlands Health and Rehab Center, Clifton Forge. He was the husband of Debbie Tyree Williams.
Mr. Williams was born January 6, 1952 in Covington, the son of the late Wade Eldridge Williams and Gladys Sorrells Williams. Skipper was member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church. He was retired from Westvaco where he worked as a pipe fitter. Skipper was a former member of the Covington Fire Department. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed collecting antiques.
In addition to his wife, Debbie Tyree Williams, Skipper is survived by his son, Steven Shane Williams of Roanoke; daughter, Ashleigh Williams Nickell and husband Chad of Covington; grandchildren, Sam Nickell and Lennon Nickell; brother, Fred Williams and wife Phyllis; and sister, Vicki Young; two brothers-in-law, Dwain Tyree and wife Janie, Robert Tyree and wife Mary; sister-in-law, Beverly Angell and husband Chris; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 11, 2019, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Urban officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dewey May, Don Dulaney, Dave Haggerty, Charlie Walker, Greg Woodson and Terry Kinsey.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:30P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Valley View Animal Rescue, 5757 Rich Patch Rd. Covington.
