Obituary for Patricia Carol Crosier (Smith)

Patricia Carol Smith Crosier, 76, of 225 W. Parrish Street, Covington, died Friday, May 31, 2019, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
She was the wife of the late Richard Gerald "Dick" Crosier, who preceded her in death on May 21, 2003.
She was born Sept. 9, 1942, in Eggleston, a daughter of the late Frank Wilson Smith and Nancy Stanley Smith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Pete Smith, on Nov. 1, 2006, and a granddaughter, Amelia Faith Crosier, who died May 23, 2013.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and always provided quiet strength to those she loved.
She enjoyed reading, traveling with her family, singing and attending Southern Gospel music concerts.
Pat was a 1960 graduate of Pearisburg High School in Pearisburg and a 1963 graduate of the LewisGale School of Nursing in Roanoke. She spent her career as a registered nurse in various hospitals and nursing homes, including Giles Memorial Hospital, the former Chesapeake & Ohio Hospital in Clifton Forge, the Andrew Rowan Home in Sweet Springs, W.Va., and Liberty House Nursing Home.
Following her retirement in 2002, she became a volunteer at LewisGale-Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor, and provided a smiling face to those who visited the hospital's gift shop.
She was a member of Parrish Court United Methodist Church, where she loved singing in the church choir and served on numerous boards and committees.
She is survived by a daughter, Melissa Crosier Gravette, and her husband, Ken, of Roanoke; two sons, Richard Gerald Crosier II, of Roanoke, and David Scott Crosier and his wife, Kyla, of Covington; five granddaughters, Victoria Ann Crosier, Samantha Paige Gravette, Alexa Nichole Crosier, Zoe Elizabeth Crosier and Isabelle Skylar Crosier; two nieces, who she thought of as daughters, Stephanie Smith Deaton, and her husband, Rory, and Joyce Crosier Anderson, and her husband Earl; two special friends, Cathy Rowan and Betty Clinedinst; a very special aunt, Sarah Neel, of Zenith, W.Va.; three sisters-in-law, Norma Pomphrey, of Verona, and Brenda Vaughan and Emma Lee Sprague, both of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Parrish Court United Methodist Church with the Revs. Deborah Washer and Doug Hollenbeck officiating.
The interment will follow in New Zion Community Church Cemetery in Waiteville, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, June 4, 2019, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home and at other times at the residence, 225 W. Parrish Street, Covington.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Pettitt, Earl Anderson Jr., Donnie Crosier, Bret Williams, Tyler Wright and Nick Deaton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rory Deaton, Roger Dawson and Jesse Pullin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Covington Fire Department and Covington Rescue Squad, 435 W. Hawthorne Street, Covington, Va. 24426, or to the building fund at Parrish Court United Methodist Church, 2343 S. Carpenter Drive, Covington, Va. 24426.
