Obituary for Bethel Lee Pyle (Martin)

Mrs. Bethel Lee Martin Pyle, age 94, of Covington went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 13th, 2019 at home, surrounded by family.
Bethel was born June 19, 1924 in Monroe County, WV, the daughter of the late Clarence William Martin and Leila Meredith Martin. “Beck”, as her husband of over fifty years, the late James Oden Pyle, Sr. called her endearingly, was a lifetime resident of this area who also loved to travel. She and “Jimmy” went to such destinations as Spain, Lake Tahoe, and Hawaii (Twice!). Trips to Myrtle Beach where she could spend time with family were a highlight among many.
Bethel was a homemaker, avid reader and animal lover. If you came to visit, you’d find her fixated in an Amish Romance Novel, her favorite series, or re-watching every episode of Family Feud. To say she loved her dogs Promise and Boo Boo, and her cat, Sweetie, is an understatement. The same could be said about Alan Jackson and his music.
Above everything, she loved God and her family. She was a member of the South Covington United Methodist Church. Being a wonderful wife, mom and “Granny” brought as much joy to her as it did to those lucky to have her in their life.
Mrs. Pyle is survived by two sons, James Olin Pyle, Jr. and Gregory Lee Pyle; two daughters, Tina Marie Kincaid and Beth Rene Williams; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Pyle was preceded in death by four sisters, Claudine Sadd, Mary Kessinger, Ruth Martin, and Nell Fisher; and six brothers, Harry “Dee” Martin, Clarence Ray Martin, James Mark Martin, John William Martin, Paul Fred Martin and Ted Martin.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30PM on Tuesday, April 16th, 2019, at South Covington United Methodist Church with Rev. Yun Goo Kang officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
The family will welcome friends to celebrate the life of Bethel on Tuesday, at 12:30PM until time of service at the church.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to two organizations dear to Mrs. Pyle; the Alleghany Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Rd, Covington, VA 24426; or the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation, 2821 Emerywood Pkwy #203, Richmond VA 23294.
