Mr. Ray Blackburn Hicks, age 86, of Hot Springs, died Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at his residence. He was the husband of Corrine Rucker Hicks.
Mr. Hicks was born October 4, 1932 in Bath County, the son of the late Ernest and Alice Blackburn Hicks. Ray served his country as a member of the United States Army. A resident of this community for fifty years, he was the owner and operator of Ray’s Transmission. He was a member of Emory United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Corrine Hicks, Mr. Hicks is survived by a son, Ray B. Hicks, Jr. of Hot Springs; two daughters, Kathy Shrewsbury of Roanoke and Patricia Case of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Taylor Bryant, Hayden Hicks and Rushford Fleshman; and one great grandchild, Scout Bryant.
In addition to his parents, Ernest and Alice Hicks, Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred Hicks, Gorne Hicks and Dolphus Hicks and three sisters, Annie Cool, Mayrene Tenny and Camilla Cudd.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 23, 2019, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Wright officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
