Obituary for Marie Persinger McEwan

Ms. Marie Persinger McEwan, age 95, of Covington, died Sunday, January 6, 2019, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem.
Ms. McEwan was born April 25, 1923 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late John Ira Persinger and Clara Persinger. A lifetime member of this community, she was employed as a teacher at Boiling Springs and Alleghany County. Marie loved working in her flower garden, traveling and fishing.
Ms. McEwan is survived by her son, Paul McEwan and wife, Chanel of Ft. Worth, TX; nine grandchildren, Cari McEwan, Kaylee McEwan, Aaron McEwan, Breaun Bell, James Bell, Jr., Megan O’Halloran, Ryan O’Halloran, Dylan McEwan, and Dawson McEwan; two great grandchildren Ava McEwan and Jaxson McEwan; a brother, Charles Persinger of Covington; and three sisters, Lyona Jamison of Roanoke, Lena Elmore of Covington, Hazel Fuller of Hiwassee; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ms. McEwan was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul E. McEwan, Jr. and eight siblings, Jesse Persinger, Nilda Tucker, Ruby Armstrong, Blanche Wolfe, Eva Tingler, Sadie Wetmore, Rutha Jane Persinger and Phyllis Mutespaugh.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M Friday, January 11, 2019, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Warren officiating, assisted by Rev. Brenda Poole. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Page Wolfe, Dean Fuller, Jimmy Fuller, Ray Crush, Eli Crush, and Matthew Crush.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
