Mr. Thomas Berlin May, age 86, of Bath County, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Springs Nursing Home, Bath County. He was the husband of Frances Rogers May.
Mr. May was born on August 15,1931 in Bath County, the son of Jesse Lee May and Beulah Andrews May. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded two purple hearts, a bronze star and a silver star. During his working career, Thomas was a construction worker. Mr. May attended Emory United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked hunting, fishing and especially playing golf and was a member of Cliffview Senior Golf Club.
In addition to his wife, Mr. May is survived by a son, Thomas D. May and wife, Kim of Covington; a daughter, Joyce May Owens and husband, Don of Covington; two grandchildren, Tommy Lee Crawford and wife, Jenny and Patrick Todd Crawford and wife, Carrie; one great grandson, Samuel Braylon Crawford; nine step grandchildren; thirteen step great grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph May, Dewey May and Freddie May; five sisters, Edith Ehlers, Betty Brown, Barbara Carpenter, Patricia Shifflet and Sue Terry; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. May was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two brothers, Basil May and Edwin May; a sister, Christine Young; and a special niece, Betty Lou Radar.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday February 25, 2018 at Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Shorty Wolfe officiating.
Those wishing to attend the service should assemble at Loving Funeral Home by 1:00 P.M.
Graveside rites will be conducted by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Pallbearers will Curtis Broughfman, Earl Broughfman, Jesse Broughfman, Billy Williams, Dennis Brown and Jeff Carpenter.
The family will be at the residence of Joyce and Don Owens, 117 Cliffview Drive, Covington, at other times.
