Mr. John Robert Jordan, age 69, departed this life for his eternal home on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at the Brian Center – Alleghany, Low Moor.
Mr. Jordan was born August 10, 1947 in Marlinton, WV, the son of the late Curtis Francis Church and Mary Jordan. He lived in Marlinton most of his adult life until moving to Covington in 2013 to live with his sister, Linda and her companion, Robert. Mr. Jordan worked at Denmar State Hospital for thirty-two years and Kramer Sawmill until his health declined and he had to retire. Robert was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Marlinton and while living in Covington attended Concerned Christian Baptist Church with his sister, Mrs. Linda Carter.
Mr. Jordan was a member of the Covington Senior Center where he loved to talk with other members and friends. He enjoyed fishing with his son, David and just sitting on the porch talking to his neighbors and friends.
Mr. Jordan is survived by his son, David D. Palmer, Jr. of East Wenatchee, WA; a grandson, Nicholas Palmer, FL; one sister, Linda Carter; a best friend, Robert Daugherty of Covington; a number of cousins; and his caregiver, John Ferrell.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Concerned Christian Baptist Church with Rev. William O. Hickman, III officiating.
