Obituary for Murkland Dressler Turner

Mrs. Murkland Dressler Turner, age 99, of Culpepper, passed peacefully Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Our Father’s House Christian Home, Culpepper.
Mrs. Turner was born December 16, 1916 in Covington, the daughter of the late David Pole Dressler and Virginia Baltimore Dressler. She was a graduate of Longwood College. A resident of Arlington for over sixty years, Murkland had been employed as a clerk and secretary by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for twenty-five years. Mrs. Turner was a longtime member of the Cherrydale United Methodist Church in Arlington. An avid reader, she was a loving mother to Tommy and a kind, generous and loving sister, aunt, great aunt and friend.
Mrs. Turner is survived by three nephews, Charles D. Groves and wife, Carol of Brighton, MI, Morris Brokeshoulder of Bellville, OH and Fred Brokeshoulder of Seneca, SC; a niece, Joan Bradley-Groves O'Hanley a great nephew, Jay Groves and wife, Patty of Redondo Beach, CA; two great nieces, Julia Abbott and husband, Todd of Midlothian and Jaclyn Groves of Richmond; great- great niece and nephew, Lukas and Lanie Abbott of Midlothian; and special friends, Randy and Diane Jones and Carol Beville.
Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Edgar Turner, III and two sisters, Odelle Dressler Groves and Alma Dressler Broiding.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 13, 2016, at Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. James Rodden officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorial tributes be made to Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church, 205 Fletcher Chapel Road, Covington, VA 24426.
