Jimmy Lee Taylor, age 83, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Heritage Hall Health and Rehab Center in Lexington, VA. He was the husband of Mary Dement Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was born February 10, 1933 in Covington, the son of Albert Luty Taylor and Berma Entsminger Taylor. He served in the U.S. Army and Virginia National Guard for 19 years and was a veteran of the Korean War with a total of 22 years of service. Mr. Taylor was employed by the telephone company for 38 years in Clifton Forge and Waynesboro. He was also a former employee of Westvaco. Mr. Taylor was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his wife, Mary Dement Taylor, Mr. Taylor is survived by a son, Steve Taylor; a daughter, Teresa T. Tingler and husband, Carl; two grandchildren, Stacy Taylor Henry and Brandon Gann, and fiancée, Lauren McCandless; two great-grandsons Nicolas Henry and Cody Henry; and sister, Dreama Moss and husband, Hal, of Florida.
In addition to his parents, Albert Luty Taylor and Berma Entsminger Taylor, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Bartley Taylor.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 30, 2016 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Bowker officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 4.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Gann, Leon Middleton, Jason Hill, Bobby Bartley, Dennis Smith and Lee Persinger.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. and other times at the residence of Teresa and Carl Tingler at 2340 S. Payne Ave, Covington, VA 24426.
