Obituary for Roy Ugee "Buck" Arritt Jr.

Mr. Roy Ugee “Buck” Arritt, Jr., age 93, of Covington, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at his daughter’s residence in Catawba. He was the husband of Nancy Garber Arritt.
Mr. Arritt was born December 23, 1921 in Covington, the son of the late Roy Ugee Arritt, Sr. and Reva Boone Arritt. He served his country as a member of the United States Army where he was stationed in the European Theatre of Operations. A lifetime resident of the Alleghany Highlands, Buck owned and operated Arritt’s Radio and TV Service for many years. He was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church where he was a former deacon and elder. Mr. Arritt was a life member of Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post 4.
Mr. Arritt played guitar in dance bands throughout the region, playing at the Homestead and the Greenbrier. He enjoyed watching live baseball games including the American Legion Post 4 team and semi pro teams. Buck also visited the World’s Fair in New York.
In addition to his wife, Nancy Garber Arritt, Mr. Arritt is survived by his children, James Michael Arritt, Kathryn Sue Arritt and husband, Jesse Cornelius, Reva Arritt Campbell and husband, Harold, and Jeffrey Todd Arritt and wife, Mary Rainey Arritt; four grandchildren, Lori Marie Hall and husband, Brian, Mike Ross, Bradley Campbell and wife, Erica, and Travis Campbell; three great grandchildren, Peyton Hall, Ian Hall, and Tyler Collins; a step daughter, Sandra Wood and husband, Bruce; a step son-in-law, John Mayse; two step grandchildren, Brad Wood and Mandy Shepherd and husband, Tom; two step great grandchildren, Cullen Shepherd and Abby Shepherd; two brothers, Ronald Arritt and Raymond Arritt; one sister, Rena Fleshman; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Arritt was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Fox Arritt Whitehead; a stepdaughter, Barbara Mayse; a grandson, Jason Ross; two brothers, Robert Arritt and Reginald Arritt; and one sister, Rita Mae Arritt.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 16, 2015, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Michael C. Fleenor officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Graveside rites will be conducted by Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 12:30 P.M. until service time at Loving Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, 900 N. Alleghany Avenue, Covington, VA 24426.
