Obituary for Sylvia Entsminger
Sylvia Entsminger
Mr. Sylvia Ray Entsminger, Jr., age 71, of 813 E. Oneida Trail, died Friday, August 13, 2010, at his residence.
He was the husband of Barbara Snead Entsminger.
Mr. Entsminger was born March 11, 1939 in Covington, the son of the late Sylvia Ray Entsminger, Sr. and Helen Shepherd Entsminger.
A lifetime member of this community, he was employed as a millwright by MeadWestvaco, retiring with forty-three years service.
Mr. Entsminger was a member of the Virginia National Guard, retiring with twenty-one years service.
He was a former bus driver for the Covington City School System, a former member of the Covington Fire Department and Rescue Squad and the Westvaco Fire Brigade. Mr. Entsminger was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served his church in numerous positions.
In addition to his wife, Barbara Snead Entsminger, Mr. Entsminger is survived by one son, Chad Michael Entsminger of East Hartford, CT; two daughters, Renee Lynn Entsminger of Roanoke, Angie Entsminger Poague and husband, Craig of Covington; four grandchildren, Abigail G. Poague, Samuel J. Poague, Marcus F. Entsminger and Christopher H. Entsminger; a brother-in-law, James D. Livesay of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Sylvia Ray Entsminger, Sr. and Helen Shepherd Entsminger, Mr. Entsminger was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Livesay.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 16, 2010, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dean Bowser officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at .
