Mrs. Ethel Louise Burkholder Doig, age 98, of Covington, died Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Alleghany Health and Rehab, Clifton Forge. She was the wife of the late Robert Gow Doig.
Mrs. Doig was born May 11, 1920 in Covington, the daughter of the late William Bowman Burkholder and Lottie Louise Childress Burkholder. A resident of this community for most of her life, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Doig was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. She was a lifetime member of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Clifton Forge Women of the Moose Chapter 22.
Mrs. Doig is survived by her children, Mayme Louise Failes Smith of Covington, Frank A. Failes of Greenville, NC, Malcolm Britt Failes of Brandon, FL, Roberta Ann Failes George of Newark, DE, Robert Allen Failes of Akron, OH; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Virginia Biggs Burkholder of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Doig was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM ,Friday, September 28,2018 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Snider and Rev. Walter B. Failes officiating.
