Obituary for Winona Cook Woodson

Mrs. Winona Cook Woodson, age 84, of Covington, died Thursday, December 28, 2017, at her residence. She was the wife of the late John Robert Woodson.
Mrs. Woodson was born July 2, 1933 in Sebert, WV, the daughter of the late Alexander J. Cook and Hattie Messer Cook. She had been employed in the research lab by Westvaco. Mrs. Woodson was a member of First Christian Church where she was a member of the B About Circle and enjoyed helping with family church meals.
Mrs. Woodson Is survived by a son, John Robert Woodson, II and wife, Rebecca; a daughter, Erin Woodson Bartley and husband, Rob of Covington; a daughter-in-law, Linda DeAngelis Woodson of Covington; eight grandchildren, Anthony Codie Woodson, Seth Alton Woodson, Amanda Woodson Dixon and husband, Steven, Caleb R. Bartley, Chase R. Bartley, Colby L. Bartley, Levi A. Woodson and Carleigh N. Crawford; five great grandchildren, Jennifer P. Woodson, A. Gabriel Dixon, Aubrey G. Dixon, Rebecca Nicole Woodson, and Cassidy M. Woodson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Woodson was preceded in death by her son, Anthony “Tony” Woodson; three brothers and three sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 2, 2018, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to First Christian Church, 231 E. Fudge Street, Covington, VA 24426.
