Condolences

Condolence From: Mike Biscotte
Condolence: I have fond memories of visiting Uncle Ira, Aunt Bess, Jean, Buck, and Robin. We would pile in the car on Sunday and ride across US 220 through Clifton Forge and over to Covington. Jean had one of the world's best laughs...I can hear it even now....and the visits were always enjoyable.

Best to Robin and Steve...

Condolence From: Paul Tucker
Condolence: Jean and my father, Billy, were first cousins. All the Tuckers had a special relationship with Jean, and loved her mother, Aunt Bess dearly.

As a little boy, I remember fondly visits to the Markhams and Whitesides on the trip over to Covington from Fincastle. Jean and Buck treated my older brother and me like sons. Robin, when our grandparents grew up in and around Covington/Rich Patch a century ago it was a tough, hard-scrabble life. They had to work so very, very hard and they did well. Daddy was very proud of how just how well his Aunt Bess (now there's a family name!) had done. They passed on a legacy of family first, hard work and personal responsibilty. God bless them!

The Jean Markham Whiteside's of the world truly were the Greatest Generation. Robin you and Steve were wonderful, caring, and devoted to her. You were her Christ-light in this world, and I hope your many, many loving memories are of some comfort to you in this time of sorrow...

With love and sympathy,
Paul and Terry

Condolence From: AE Reed
Condolence: Robin and Family,

Jean, who will forever be Mrs Whiteside to me, was the FIRST person to buy a piece of my art when I was just starting out in life. She saw my potential when I was young and in her 5th grade class. She would allow me to work on special art projects and fostered my creativity. I will forever hold her dear to my heart as someone who gave this scared little boy some courage. I always enjoyed my visits to the house and our chats. It has been some time since we had spoken and I hate that now I wont have a chance to say THANK YOU to her. So I will do the best I can and say thank you to you all for sharing her with the world and all those "young people" that she taught, mentored and loved. My thoughts are with you all at this time and please know that she made a definite difference in my life.
