Mr. Johnnie Charles, Jr., age 50, of Fort Wayne, IN, formerly of Covington, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016.
Mr. Charles was born May 21, 1966 in Alleghany County, the son of Barbara Bradley “Bobbie” Charles and the late Johnnie Charles, Sr. and was the grandson of Ivan Bradley and Margaret Carson McCracken who preceded him in death. He served his country as a member of the United States Army. Johnnie, known as “Papa John”, worked as a pipefitter and welder in the construction field.
In addition to his mother, Barbara Bradley “Bobbie” Charles, Mr. Charles is survived by his children, Alexander Charles, Jermiah Charles, Kelsie Charles, and the mother of his children, Wanda Nicely, all of Clifton Forge, Adrienne Moore and husband, James of Norfolk; his companion, Lisa Downey of Fort Wayne, IN and her two grandchildren, Sissy and Matthew Alvarez, who referred to Johnnie as PawPaw; two brothers, Mark Charles and wife, Cammie of Covington and Richard Charles and wife, Marsha of Peachtree City, GA; a sister, Sherry Charles Jackman and husband, Jack of Decatur, GA; and a numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 P.M. Sunday, October 16, 2016, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.
The family will receive their friends following the service.
The family will be at the residence of Bobbie Charles, 1307 Dee Street, Covington and at the home of his children’s mother, Wanda Nicely, 1013 Venus Way, Clifton Forge at other times.
