Mr. Lynn Dale Rider, age 62, of Covington, died Monday, April 25, 2016, at his residence.
Mr. Rider was born October 18, 1953 in Coco Solo, Panama, the son of Lonnie Dan Rider and the late Ruth Pierce Rider. During his working career, he was employed by Hercules, Inc, was a manager for the ABC store in Dumfries, VA as well as a custodian with the Alleghany County School System. Mr. Rider enjoyed hunting, guns and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He also enjoyed watching football. Lynn was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his father, Lonnie Dan Rider, Mr. Rider is survived by a daughter, Tracy Rider of Covington; a son, Scottie R. Rider of Clifton Forge; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Love, Vernon Love, Jr. and Helen Schrenk.
In addition to his mother, Ruth Pierce Rider, Mr. Rider was preceded in death by a sister, Linda R. Stearrett.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 28, 2016, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Slate officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Cheese Smith and David Via.
The family will receive friends on Thursday morning from 11:30 A.M. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.
