Mr. Russell Dean Andrews, age 82, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at the family residence in Stuarts Draft, VA. He was the husband of the late June Dressler Andrews.
Mr. Andrews was born December 20, 1932 in Alleghany County, the son of the late George Russell Andrews and Dollye Mabel Dotson Andrews. Mr. Andrews was a graduate of Covington High School and attended Morris Harvey College. Dean proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army CPL RA in the 4th Infantry Division stationed in Haneu, Germany. Mr. Andrews was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church. He served as an Elder and was also a member of the choir. Dean was the former owner and operator of The Glass and Flower House and later served as a florist to The Jefferson Florist at The Homestead Resort. He was a proud recipient of the Alleghany Highlands Arts Council Arts Legacy Award for his lasting impact on the community and commitment to the perpetuation of the performing arts.
Mr. Andrews is survived by his daughter, Junessa Dean Andrews Epperly and her husband, John whom Dean affectionately called “son”; a grandson, Andrew Walker DeBiasi and Andrew’s father, Chris DeBiasi; John’s Mother, Maxine Epperly, as well as his grandchildren through marriage Rachael, Morgan and Lucas Epperly and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM at Loving Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 19, 2015, at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael C. Fleenor and Pastor Brandon Williams of Foursquare Gospel Church on the Hill in Fishersville, VA officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Graveside rites will be conducted by Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Active pallbearers will be B.R. Rupert, Clay Lowe, Joseph A. Wimer, Jeri O’Rourke, Larry O’Rourke, Gavin Dressler and Chris DeBiasi.
Honorary pallbearers will be Burton Parker, Burdette Rupert, Paul Linkenhoker and Eddie O’Rourke.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
