Mrs. Ruth Ayers Givens, age 86, of Covington, died Friday, April 10, 2015, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem. She was the wife of the late Craig E. Givens, Sr.
Mrs. Givens was born February 26, 1929 in Covington, the daughter of the late Emmett M. Ayers, Sr. and Viola Kidd Ayers. During her working career, she was employed in the Factory Service Department of General Motors in Dayton, OH. Mrs. Givens was a member of Moss Run Baptist Church. Ruth loved to spend time with her family as well as her church.
Mrs. Givens is survived by two sons, Craig E. Givens, Jr. and wife, Brigitte and Charles E. Givens and Brenda; one daughter, Gerri Givens Galford; two grandchildren, Kimberly Brown Robinson and husband, John, and Scott L. Givens and wife, Vanessa; two great grandchildren, Dallan Givens and Gunner Givens; a number of nieces and nephews; special friends, Hattie Thompson and Barbara Fitzgerald; and a special pet, Marly.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Givens was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 14, 2015, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Sizemore officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 17, 2015, at Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
