Mr. Thomas Edward “Tiny” Johnston, age 61, of Covington, died Thursday, October 16, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Johnston was born January 9, 1953 in Alleghany County, the son of the late Phonsie Edward Johnston and Hazel Johnston Tucker. A lifetime resident of this community, he was employed as a contractor by R.L. Johnston, Inc. He was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Johnston is survived by a son, Joshua Thomas Johnston and wife, Shannon of Covington; a daughter, Bridgett Hancock Noel of Crofton, MD; five grandchildren, Gabrielle Fox, Isabelle Grace Brookman, Alexandra Noel, Aidan Raether, and Braylon Johnston; a sister, Jannie Crawford and husband, Monty of Covington; two nephews, Steven Scruggs and wife, Faith of King William and Tyler Crawford of Covington; one niece, Monte Lynn Crawford of Covington; and special friend, Cindy Powell of Covington.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnston was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Johnston; a granddaughter, Eden Johnston; and a sister, Pamela Ann Johnston.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 19, 2014, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Nicely officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Garten, John Bush, Jerry Givens, Larry Wright, Mickie Bowyer and Robert “Red” Lemons. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Owens, Horton Beirne and Don Dulaney.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
